Thank you Jon Roskill

Dear Jon Roskill,

Thank you for 8 years as CEO of Acumatica.

You took Acumatica from a position of relative obscurity to being a major player in Midmarket ERP.

When I first got involved with the Acumatica product back in April 2013, it was the tech that appealed to me.

There are a lot of software products out there that have great tech, but they don’t succeed in the market because of poor business strategy.

When you became CEO of Acumatica back in March 2014, the Acumatica product largely only appealed to geeky technical people like me.

You changed that. Today, Acumatica is both a strong product AND a strong company.

Those of us “blue collar ERP workers”, laboring day after day in the “mine”, have to spend years building ERP skills on a specific product. The product that we choose matters. Our choice can be the difference between enjoying decades of leveraging our skills or having to “reboot” and “retool” on a new product when our product gets put out to “end of life” pasture.

Back when I started working with the Acumatica product in April 2013, I wasn’t sure if it would succeed, but it has, in large part because of you.

So I wanted to say, “thank you.”

Now, don’t get me wrong, without solid tech, you would not have succeeded. I actually have a bigger “thank you” for the developers and other product people at Acumatica who have made the Acumatica product such a fun product to work with. But, you are the one who made an announcement today about stepping down as CEO of Acumatica. So my thanks today is focused on you.

I hope you get to enjoy your time off. Hey, maybe you can even retire!

I hope that you get to spend a lot of time with your family, time that was lacking during your years as Acumatica CEO, as you traveled millions? of miles all over the globe to help build Acumatica into the business that it is today.

Now, I’m sure that you were well-compensated for your efforts so this isn’t a “thank you for your service” note. Those notes are reserved for people who do much greater things than a CEO could ever do.

But I’m still “thankful for your leadership,” and I’m thankful that I took a chance and began building skills on the Acumatica product back in April 2013.

Jon, I’m sure that I echo the sentiments of many people in the Acumatica community when I say:

“Thank you”

Sincerely,
Tim Rodman

ps. When we did this YouTube Live broadcast on January 25, 2022, at the recent Acumatica Summit, you signed off with “adios”. Adios Jon!

Update March 10, 2022: In this article, Jon Reed quotes Brian Sommer with advice for John Case, the new Acumatica CEO. I echo this advice wholeheartedly:
https://diginomica.com/acumatica-changes-ceos-will-supply-chain-planning-become-focal-point

Well over 95% of Acumatica’s sales are partner-driven, and only an idiot would needlessly tinker with that critical revenue generator.
