Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know where I can go to download Report Designer for Acumatica?
I gather that it's a separate windows application (too bad for Mac users) that you use to design reports, then you publish them into Acumatica where they can be run within a web browser.
But I'm not sure where to go to download the Report Designer application.
Any ideas?
Hi Fozzie,
You are correct, no Macs for designing reports unfortunately. But of course since running reports is done in the web browser like everything else in Acumatica, you can run them on a Mac, an iPad, a phone, etc.
You can do the following to download Report Designer and install it on your Windows computer:
Prior to Acumatica 2018 R1
- Go to http://builds.acumatica.com
- Choose the folder for your version of Acumatica
- Choose the folder for your specific build number of Acumatica
- Choose the AcumaticaTools folder
- Download the AcumaticaReportDesigner.msi installer file
- Run the installer file (it's very small and lightweight) to install Report Designer on your machine
Acumatica 2018 R1 and later
- Go to http://builds.acumatica.com
- Choose the folder for your version of Acumatica
- Choose the folder for your specific build number of Acumatica
- Choose the AcumaticaERP folder
- Download the AcumaticaERPInstall.msi installer file
- Run the installer file (it's a large file because it has the entire Acumatica codebase in it) to install Report Designer on your machine
- Check only the Install Report Designer checkbox to install Report Designer without installing the entire Acumatica application
NOTE: This post was updated on December 10, 2020 to reflect the folder changes. Personally, I liked it better prior to Acumatica 2018 R1 because the install file was so nice and small. Now you have to download the entire bulky Acumatica installation file, even if you only want to install Report Designer.
Wow, you're right. That was super easy and super quick. Thanks for the instructions!
No problem, barging in on threads is what it's all about here. The more the merrier.
Yes, you are correct, the AcumaticaERPInstall.msi file in the AcumaticaERP folder of a build is the entire Acumatica installation routine. You can use it to install a fully functioning Acumatica environment on your local computer as long as you are running IIS and SQL Server or MySQL. There are no feature limitations. The only limitation is that you can only have 2 concurrent users logged in at any given time.
It's kind of a secret. So hopefully no one else reads this post 🙂
Hey Matt,
That's strange, it doesn't look like the 2018 R1 folders have the AcumaticaTools folder that the Report Designer install file is located in.
Try just using the latest 2017 R2 build. That should work for you. You can navigate to 17.2/17.208.0034/AcumaticaTools.
Found that report designer does not need to be installed to run. We copied the directory from a full installation of Acumatica (i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Acumatica ERP\Report Designer) and have team members running this copy it locally and run the ReportDesigner.exe file in the directory. Have not observed any issues with this.
Morgan,
Right, Report Designer is only needed to edit reports. When you run a report, it's running through your web browser using the Acumatica Framework on the server.
Looks like the separate standalone installer for Report Designer is planned to be reintroduced in Acumatica 2019 R2:
MYOB Advanced users can download it from System -> Customisation -> Tools -> Download MYOB Advanced Tools
We can also download the Device Hub installer as well.
The link is: https://<<our company>>.myobadvanced.com/(W(573))/FileGetter.aspx?action=reportDesigner
Wonder if this works with an Acumatica domain?
I just checked and Acumatica doesn't have FileGetter.aspx (love the name by the way).
That's a great idea though. I updated the Acumatica Feedback site with it. It makes sense that good ideas like this would flow back-and-forth between Acumatica and MYOB.
Unfortunately you have to download the entire 200+ MB Acumatica installtion file now. But there is a checkbox in the installation routine that will allow you to only install Report Designer. The latest Acumatica installation file is here:
http://acumatica-builds.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html?prefix=builds/19.1/19.110.0013/AcumaticaERP/
Still seems totally weird that MYOB have provided their own integrated solution yet Acumatica insist on bundling it with the installer.
For us MYOB Advanced users, installing Report Designer is a no-brainer.
Just wondering if anyone knows what this download is. Looks bogus but strangely tempting since it's not entirely clear where to download the report designer for various Acumatica versions. https://acumatica-report-designer.software.informer.com/
