Is it possible from a generic inquiry to add a button to the form. The button will execute some code to gather the data in the grid an update a table.

If you look on the Site Map for a Generic Inquiry, you'll see that every Generic Inquiry gets launched by the same .aspx page. Can't remember the page, but I think it's GenericInquiry.aspx.
Not sure if you can modify GenericInquiry.aspx, but it would be worth opening a support case to find out.
