Excel is still used for what if analysis, break even analysis,
Just like Tim said, we had excel files all over the company, moved to Acumatica and are now building out BI and Excel to expose data from ACE, as well as other web apps (CRM, etc)
Excel used for monthly/quarterly financial reports. Also used to pull data into PowerBI desktop version.
Should be mentioned that the Acumatica user permissions for the underlying GI are enforced through the Excel Odata connection.
Does this connection to OData from Excel require Velexio?
You do not need Velexio for Odata to work in Excel or BI
We are using Excel and Power Query connected to several Odata GI’s for Project WIP report that includes AR balance.
We use quite a few ODATA GI – they do seem really slow, do you have any recommendations to assist with efficiency? We only have ~18 months worth of data so dataset size is typically not an issue.
The code area is really good to copy power queries and use elsewhere, esp if you move to dataflows or switch between excel and bi
If you use WIndows Desktop version of PowerBI, are the PowerBI excel file then not available online? Help me understand this.
How would you parameterize, so that you can punch in a date range at runtime you want to view?

Are there any security considerations for these files? For instance, if I create an Excel report, share it to internal users and then they email it out to external clients.
I can see that PowerBi is much easier to do what-if-analysis Eg. Changing forecasts
In order to refresh you need to have login credentials
@Adam Brunner – Understood. Our situation is most of our external clients require a monthly report. So refresh for external wouldnt be an issue.
Internally I need dynamic, external would be more static. Most of my internal users would print to pdf and send,
but the concern would be any potential credentials get stored or hacked if the excel file is shared.
Is DAX language available in the online PowerBI?
I haven’t seen any issues with credentials following the file, but would agree that sending something that is simplified or even a pdf does make sense there

I would love to do a cost break-even analysis for a customer using PowerBI. I wonder whether I get the right variable expenses and fixed expenses in Acuamtica.
