Hi Everyone
First post. Yay!!! This forum has been so much help so far. Thanks, Tim.
Is there a way to default # of copies to print on a form? All the settings available on the form for page settings etc does not allow to default this at the form level. The requirement is to print 2 copies of the shipment confirmation each time it's printed. Can not quite work this out. Is this not possible because the print settings are controlled at a browser level and not at the Acumatica/Advanced( I am in OZ) level.
Thanks
Congratulations on your first post. I hope there are many more to come.
No way to default the number of copies as far as I know for exactly the reason that you outline. Printing is one area where browser-based applications aren't that great. With Windows applications, they can communicate directly with the print driver. But with web-based applications, the browser handles the printing.
Nice trick Carl! Looks like this works for 2 copies, but still would be a challenge to handle a dynamic number of copies.
Usually the scenario we face is that the shipping confirmation has a maximum of 2 or 3 requirements, 1 for the customer, 1 for back office (sometimes) and 1 for the driver.
If you are wanting a dynamic number this is usually for barcodes, I had this question recently and advised the following solution could be considered
You could just download the shipment line data or do an export scenario and let this product print the number of labels required.
Perhaps time to re-evaluate your business process. Make 1 copy as a PDF and email it a many times as you want. Save a tree in the process. 🙂
I just had an idea. Maybe there is a way to use the DeviceHub that was introduced in Acumatica 2018 R1 for this.
DeviceHub installs on a machine and allows Acumatica to access the printers directly rather than having to go through the browser.
As far as I can tell, DeviceHub is mainly for setting default printers, but I wonder if there is a way to hack it to handle number of copies.
