Does anyone use a third party product to write reports?  I find writing reports to be torture in Acumatica.  I hate that formulas don't carry through when you export to Excel.  And don't even get me started on the horrible formatting on Excel imports (random merged cells, additional rows needed for lines, etc.)

In a previously job I used Jet Reports on a Microsoft NAV accounting system, so I'm just wondering if there are similar products available for Acumatica.

If you like Excel, a few ideas:

1. Velixo. Probably most similar to Jet Reports in that it does cell by cell calculations. It's very efficient. Gabriel, who owns the company used to work at Acumatica and he made sure that Velixo works very well with Acumatica. Actually, it only works with Acumatica. It used to only work with General Ledger and Project Ledger data, but not it can work with any Generic Inquiry. Still though, I'd say that it's mainly a financial report writer.

2. Excel with OData and Power BI. Excel can consume OData natively and Acumatica support OData, no need for a 3rd party product. Actually, Gabriel had a big part in making this happen years ago. This method works well if you like Pivot Tables and if you're on the latest version of Excel which has Power BI / Power Pivot built-in. Checkout this post for more info:

3. Solver BI360. A BI solution built for Excel. See my comparison for several years ago between Solver BI360 and BizNet which I think is more like Jet Reports:

If you don't like Excel, checkout DataSelf (click here), a pre-built BI solution for Acumatica built on Tableau.

Amy - I would be happy to give you a demo of Velixo and provide access to a free trial. The setup takes just 5 minutes and if you used Jet Reports before you'll feel right at home. We actually have someone working on our team that used to work at Jet and knows both products really well. I contacted you on LinkedIn, feel free to visit our website or watch the videos on YouTube as well to learn more.

P.S. Thanks for mentioning us Tim!

Hi Amy,

As Tim mentioned (thanks, Tim!), you may also want to take a look at DataSelf as a reporting option. They offer highly configurable interactive dashboard views that let you slice and dice your data however you want and can be embedded right in Acumatica.

Check out their website, and if you're interested, contact your Joni Girardi - jgirardi@dataself.com. They also offer a free 14 day trial so you can see how the reports look using your own data!

Hi Amy,

Just thought of sharing this blog article I wrote about data extraction methods available in Acumatica and when to use these tools, hope this helps along with the links Tim provided as well, we may not need report designer depending on what data you planning on extracting and may use other methods, hope this article helps  https://www.info-sourcing.com/acumaticas-swiss-army-knife-multi-tool-reporting-for-erp-data-extraction/

Thanks
Harsha
