Independent Acumatica Consulting Update

June 27, 2024 by Tim Rodman Leave a Comment

I’ve been working with Acumatica since 2013. Here’s an update about my journey as an Independent Acumatica Consultant.

I’d like to give you an update on my journey as an Independent Acumatica Consultant.

I’ve been involved with Acumatica since 2013, working in implementation roles, first as an Acumatica employee and then as an employee at two different VARs.

Since November 2020 though, I’ve been independent, running everything through my Aug Forums LLC.

So, my Independent Acumatica Consulting journey has been running for almost 4 years now which is pretty amazing. I’ve really enjoyed it and I’ve been able to work with about 50 different companies so far on this journey the past 4 years.

But, for the past year, I’ve been focused on one client here in Columbus, Ohio. They went live with Acumatica last year and they needed someone to help them through the first 6 months.

6 months turned into over a year, but, at this point, the needs have slowed down and they no longer need my full-time attention.

So, by August, I will be opening the door back up to take on new clients again.

When I started this independent Acumatica Consulting journey, I focused exclusively on the reporting tools in Acumatica, but things have evolved, as things tend to do.

I still look at everything through the lens of reporting because, to me, the point of capturing data in an ERP system like Acumatica is so that you can deliver information to decision makers.

That’s my specialty and that’s my passion. That also fits well with my background as an Applied Mathematics major at UCLA and a Financial Auditor at Deloitte where I got my CPA license.

I’m not a Management Consultant who just produces a PowerPoint deck with a bunch of good ideas, and then walks away. I like to help companies execute on those good ideas.

To do that, I also now work with the Low-Code/No-Code tools in Acumatica to make business processes better and to capture data that wasn’t being captured, all with the goal of supporting better reporting because, in my opinion, Reporting and Business Process are just two sides of the same coin.

I’m not a Developer, but I have gotten really good at using the Low-Code/No-Code tools in Acumatica to add functionality to existing screens and even build new screens when necessary to capture more data so that I can deliver better information to decision makers.

But none of this matters unless it’s connected to the Business Strategy of the company. This is especially true when creating Dashboards. If I can’t help to drive action to achieve goals that align with the business strategy, then I’m just creating a lot of noise.

So I’m learning to understand the Business Strategy first, then align my Reporting and Business Process work in Acumatica with that strategy.

You can think of me as being a much cheaper Management Consultant, but someone who executes on things rather than just producing a PowerPoint deck.

If any of this sounds valuable to you, I would love to work with you.
