We have an customer that needs to schedule shipments for future dates on a SO. I have not been able to figure out how to do this, don't see a way.

1. A PO is received from their customer for a given number of stock items, lets say 10 different stock items in our example.  A SO is created for those 10 stock items of type S.

2. They want to be able to schedule shipments over a period of time, weeks, months.

3. From the first two items (there are 100 quantity for each item) ship quantity 20 each the first week of each month for five months.

4. The next 5 items ship quantity over the next seven months in various amounts.

We need to keep track of these and be able to change the schedule as needed and maybe merge a shipment.

Is this available, does anyone know how to do this or do we have to customize it?

Thanks,

Alfred

I was curious and tried this out in 2018R1. I created an order for an item (100 pieces total) that I wanted to ship on 5 different dates. The RequestedOn date was set to the first of each month starting in February and the quantity was set to what I expect to ship on that date. So now we have 5 shipments of 20 pieces each with a different RequestedOn date.

Going to the definition of SOLine level RequestedOn date: "The date when the customer wants to receive the goods; the default value is specified in the Requested On box in the Summary area. These dates can be different for different lines if the order-level shipping rule is Back Order Allowed."

With the shipping rule set to"Back Order Allowed" when you create the shipment it will only add order lines that are eligible for shipping based on the ShipOn date (RequestedOn - LeadTime). In my case since two order lines were eligible to ship, it created two shipment lines for a total of 40 pieces.

If you needed to combine shipments all you would need to do is change the RequestedOn date of any lines that you want to ship immediately. It's not the most elegant, especially if there are a lot of manual edits before the order is entirely fulfilled, but it should do the trick with out the need to customize. Then you might just add a GI to help monitor upcoming scheduled shipments.

@ncantral  Hello and thanks for the post.    The work flow would be for them to enter one line item on the SO form, Quantity 100 and not five lines with 20 each with different ship dates. In Acumatica once you create a Shipment, you can not create a 2nd one unless you confirm it.

I do not know a way to have several shipments active w/o confirming the prior ones.

So you want multiple Shipments open on the Sales Order with different Shipment Dates that could be scattered across weeks or months?

I think @ryanxbyte did a customization to allow multiple Unconfirmed Shipments against a single Sales Order.

Can you not just create multiple Sales Orders, each with their own requested on dates? And reference the original PO#?

We use 'Back Order Allowed' quite a bit, but also get PO's for ship ASAP and ship 6 months from now. For those we create two SO's with different dates and reference the PO# on each. I'm not sure what your customer's invoicing protocols are, so they may be expecting an invoice for the total amount.

We asked the customer, but they want to enter one line item on the SO, example, with a quantity of 500.  Then allow the selection of several ship dates with a specific quantity for each ship date.  The Shipment work flow will bot work since you can really only have one shipment active at a time.  We decided to create a customization.
