I have 2 stock items that are physically identical. We use them to reserve inventory for a particular customer. Is there a way to transfer the inventory quantity from item A to item B in one transaction so that it depletes the inventory for item A and replenishes the inventory for item B?
I currently issue Item A and receive Item B but I want that done in one step with an audit trail.

Yes - use a Kit Assembly. B is the finished item and A is the component.
Setup Steps
- Flag B as a Kit
- Setup Kit Specification for B. Either add as as a component or flag kit to allow addition of components.
Process Steps
- Create Kit Assembly for B. Enter quantity. Add Components if necessary. Release
Done.
Alternatively, use the one inventory Item and:
- Hard allocate inventory
- and/o Move customer inventory to a separate Inventory location or a dummy warehouse
