Hi all,

Does anyone encounter such error when doing the confirm shipment in Acumatica with the 'foreign shipto address'?

My company is a Canadian-based one, and it has branch in US so we have both US and CA tenants. When we're in the main company (CA tenant) and we want to ship to a US customer shipto address (usually in drop shipment procedure), we got an error that holds us back from shipment confirmation. It said 'shipment description required' but I have no idea where to feed this info although we can confirm the shipment normally with Canadian customers (CA shipto address).

I think Acumatica should make it possible to ship anywhere regardless of the shipto address natively, as an organization can have multiple customers nationwide.

Carrier Service returned error. 120512:Shipment Description is required for this shipment.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Regards,

Hiep

That message looks like an error code from the carrier to me. When I Google it, it comes back with UPS information. Are you using the UPS carrier integration?

If so, maybe UPS requires a package description. Have you tried populating the Description field on the Packages tab?

Thanks Tim,

Yes, I'm using UPS carrier. But the weird thing is how come international shipment is not supported as it's very basic and popular in shipment. How can Acumatica tell us that it cannot ship international just because failure integration with UPS or any ship forwarding services (FedEx, USPS, etc.)

The description you mentioned in the Package tab (After Shop for Rates button hit) is just for Inventory Item description, not for shipment description so I guess there is nothing to do with it. And here is how it was described in the wiki:

I still dont get it.

Thanks!
Hiep

Hi Hiep,

The Description field that I was referring to is on the PACKAGES tab of the Shipments screen:

It's not the description for the inventory item, but for the package.

I'm not sure if this is the field that UPS is looking for, but I would try populating it for all packages on the shipment and see what happens.

Thanks Tim,

Tried it already from very beginning by feeding the description, but same thing. I think that was the Box Description rather than the package shipment description which was required by UPS when shipping to another Ship to Address which is different from the current country tenant.

Sorry for long postpone as many customization needed recently so they ate my time.

I'm nearly bald with this naughty error. God!

Hiep

Ah, I just found this help article:

https://help.acumatica.com/Main?ScreenId=ShowWiki&pageid=ac936fae-1e11-4077-a934-a0c39f290ec8

As you can see at the top of the post, apparently this integration does not support international shipments.

You might want to look at shipping software like StarShip which is integrated with Acumatica. They can handle a ton of different shipping scenarios.

Acumatica now integrates with ShipEngine which supports international shipping https://www.acumatica.com/cloud-erp-software/acumatica-release-news/
