Does anyone have a good method of communicating tracking numbers for items they are drop-shipping to their customers through Acumatica?

Hi fchambers,

 

I want to clarify these questions. What do you mean to give unique numbers for each item that drop ship sales, is it correct? And Acumatica did not record the item right since it dropships items?

@daru Not exactly. There are times when our operations team sends a PO to a vendor and has the vendor ship the item directly to our customer. The vendor then sends us the tracking information and we need to pass that information on to our customer while entering the PO receipt. Acumatica does not seem to care to capture the tracking information for dropship PO receipts - so we created a User Defined field to hold the tracking number. Now we would like to have a automatic shipment notification sent to our customer to inform them of the tracking number for their item.

I can't think of a way to do this like with a normal Shipment because a Drop Shipment uses the Purchase Receipt as the Shipment so there is no Shipment transaction which is where tracking numbers are normally stored.

 

As for notifying the customer of the tracking number information stored in the user-defined field, you should be able to create a Business Event to do this.

@timrodman Thanks Tim. We did end up using a business event to communicate the tracking we place in the UDF.
