We currently use Business Events to automatically create and assign a task to follow up on every order after it is placed. These tasks are used by our customer service team to reach out to customers and give them estimated ship date for their orders after 48 hours have passed.
The issue we are having is that about 60% of our orders ship within 48 hours, but those tasks are still open and assigned even though the order has been closed (distracting our customer service team from orders that actually need to be followed up on).
Has anyone found a way to automatically complete an open task once a sales order has been completed?
Have you tried to use Business Events to trigger the complete task action when the order status changes to 'Completed'? I don't have much experience with Business Events, so it may not function in that way.
How about a Business Event that runs on a schedule every night? You would have it compare the Order Date to the Current Date and create a Task for those Orders that are two days old and are still open.
I just made an auto email notification for all orders not yet in COMPLETED status for more than 3 days already after creation.
