Starting in Acumatica 2020 R1, you can add Side Panels to data entry screens.
It's still a lot easier to add Side Panels to Generic Inquiries because you can do it within the Generic Inquiry without having to use a Customization Project, but at least it's now possible to do on a data entry screen.
Create a Customization Project, then open the Customization Project.
Navigate to SCREENS, the data entry screen you want, then Actions, then + -> Create New:
You can see that I already added two Side Panels to the Sales Orders (SO301000) screen so let's take a look at how they were setup:
After publishing the Customization Project, we can see the Side Panels on the data entry screen:
This is exactly what I would like to do as a starter in our system, but I worry about modifying customizations. In case it doesnt work I dont want to mess up the customization. Is there a safe way that I can test it?
Export the customisation project first before you change it, make you changes and if anything goes wrong, unpublish your project, delete it and then import the exported project and you're back to your initial state
So exporting it creates an exact copy?
That is awesome! I will be implementing that today.
Has anyone experienced custom side panels disappearing for no apparent reason?
We have been seeing it happen and then when we unpublish and republish the customization the side panels are back.
