Hi there fellow Acumatica users,

I am going to share with you an issue I am facing since last week, and all the procedures / steps I've taken to try and solve it (without success for now). Please let me know if anyone else is having this issue and has been able to solve it.

I've been facing issues with previewing reports on my Report Designer. I first found the issue last Thursday when I needed to modify one field in our Purchase Order report. I noted that I could modify and save the report to the server, however when trying to preview the report (po643001) I found this error:

Long story short, I did the necessary changes to keep the operation running and saw the changes in our tenant. Having that solved, and knowing I still could modify reports was a relief. I continued then my journey to solve the bug. At first, I thought something was wrong with the report, so I decided to try another report without modifications (ap632000) and found this:

Yup, exact same error. Time for a deeper troubleshooting. I used to run Report Designer from the documents folder, since it's where the downloaded zip file was extracted. I then found out I was using an outdated version of Report Designer (ReportDesigner_2018.210.0010 to be precise). So, I decided it was time to update and went to Acumatica Community. I downloaded the version we are in, 2019R2, and decided to run the installation file for Report Designer. I then found this:

I thought this installation will overwrite the old one but it wasn't happening. I decided to uninstall Report Designer using Windows Command Prompt (wmic), then cleanup the registry. After removing absolutely everything from Acumatica ERP, Report Designer and all related stuff I rebooted and try finding something remaining with Acumatica on it's name. Voilâ, nothing there, not even in the search history. I then went to Windows features and programs and enabled IIS. Rebooted the computer and finally was able to install the newer version of Report Designer (ReportDesigner_2019.121.6.0):

However, after all that hard work, troubleshooting and maintenance to my PC, I ended up almost where I started. I now have a newer Report Designer version, and I can open from server / modify / upload to server existing reports, but I cannot preview them. I even opened the server settings and checked everything is correct:

However, I haven't had too much progress so far.

Any tips? Is anyone else experiencing this? Thanks in advance for your kind replies!

What build is your Acumatica instance?  Curious what operating system are you using?

I have had this problem and usually just installed the same version as the instance I am working on and the problem went away.

I also in the past have manually uninstalled and reinstalled.

Matt

@mcraig are you able to preview reports? My Report Designer is working, it opens up and connects to the server, it's the preview function the one not working.

Just tried 2020R2, didn't work either. At least the warning is different. This time it recognizes the Report Designer version is newer than my main version. My Acumatica version is 2019R1...

I haven't used the preview feature much other than when it first came out. I find myself running all of my reports in the browser so I know that I'm seeing the report exactly the same way that users will see it.
