Hi there,

My client would like to add 2 extra aging buckets to the AR Aged Period Senstive Summary Report (90-120 days and Over 120 Days).

Could you please advise me on the best way to amend the report to achieve this.

Thanks

Jo

Hi Jo,

I've never done this before, but here are some thoughts.

At first I was thinking that we would just need to add a new field to the AGING SETTINGS section of the Statement Cycles (AR202800) screen.

But, looking at it further, it would be more complicated than that.

There are currently five fields in that section (Current, 1-30, 31-60, 61-90, Over 90):

I’m thinking that we would need to change them to look like this which would be easy:

But we’d need to add a field for the 61-90 days bucket, then modify the last bucket to “know about” this new field and show 90 instead of 60.

We can’t just add a field because it needs to interact with the other fields. We would need to understand and modify the existing logic.

It looks like everything on the report keys off of the Payments.GetBucketNumberForAgedReport function which would need to be modified in order to accommodate the new field. I’m not sure where this function is stored.

We’d need to modify a number of other calculations on the report as well.

Also, this would only impact the AR Aged Past Due report. None of the other aging reports would see our new aging bucket. They would only run on the fields pictured in the second screenshot above.

Hi Tim,

thanks for your reply and suggestions.

I have actually in the meantime fiddled around and got something working.  I have created 2 new variables for the extra buckets and and am manually working out the number of days between aging date and due date and if days is > 90 then adding amount into correct bucket . I have left the other aging buckets working as is. It seems to be working.

Jo

@jo-wykerd

I would also like to know how you managed to do the calculation. I've tried adding additional fields to the Statement Cycle, but that didn't work at all, and I can't seem to get my head around the calculation on how it would be best to add these additional buckets. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

We are using the "financial period for aging" function and not the days.

Kind Regards

Ronel

Good idea to just hardcode it in the report since it likely won't change very often.

Also looking forward to the additional buckets case. In our case we need 5 buckets to modify only the Aged Past Due Report. 1-7, 8-15, 16-30, 31-60 and over 60 days.
