Is there a way to setup my preference so that when we enter an invoice and we want to choose the gl account, the system propose only gl’s that stars with the Numbers enter
ex
if we key in 17, we dont want the gl 22217 and 33173
We only want the gl 17001, 17002...

It's a contains search, not a "starts with" search unfortunately.
You could key in "170" instead of "17" to be more restrictive. Or, if you want to do something crazy, you could modify your Chart of Accounts and add a leading digit or character (eg. "A" for Asset, "L" for Liability, etc.). Then you'd key in "A17" and it would function as a "starts with" search.
Or, you could do a Starts With filter like this, it just takes a few clicks:
