Hi Tim,
Nice to see how lively the AUG has become. I'll be sure to spend some more time here looking around.
2 setup questions on GIs.
1. When you make a save a new GI, it is by default visible to all users, even if the site map location and screen ID have not been granted rights for all users. What do you do after you make a new GI to not make it visible to all by default. I don't want to restrict access outright because then it becomes a role nightmare.
2. When you add a column to a GI, it can affect how the excel export looks (deleting columns, moving columns, etc.). I naively thought the excel would look identical to what is on screen on the GI. What settings do I need to check in the GI if my excel export does not match?
Thanks!
Hi All,
Just wanted to update that both issues have been resolved.
1. This was just setting delete rights for admin at the access rights by screen.
2. I found a previous post that documented this, apparently a common issue. One workaround is the remake the GI in the order you wish to export. Let me know if there is a better solution.
1. This is definitely my LEAST favorite thing about security in Acumatica. You have to explicitly define security permissions on the screen for at least one security role. I usually do the same thing, define Delete rights for the Administrator security role. But many people don't realize that they have to do this at first so the generic inquiry is available to EVERYONE until they (hopefully) notice it.
2. I didn't remember this one. So it only respects the column order in the RESULTS GRID tab on the Generic Inquiry (SM208000) screen when you do the Excel export?
Vote on this to change the behavior you experienced in #1 https://feedback.acumatica.com/ideas/ACU-I-2456
