Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Columbus, Ohio

November 8, 2019 by Tim Rodman

Yesterday I attended the Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow here in Columbus, Ohio. Here are my notes from the presentation showing new features in Acumatica 2019 R2.

Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Columbus, Ohio

This year, the Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow in Columbus, Ohio was at the Westin Great Southern hotel in downtown Columbus.

The outside of the building has a fairly historical look to it and the inside ballroom where the event was held is rather stately.

This was the same location as the roadshow from two years ago. Last year was at a hotel next to the state capitol, right in the middle of downtown.

This event seems to grow steadily every year, even though Columbus tends to be the smallest city on the roadshow circuit as I pointed out in the post last year comparing the metro populations of the various roadshow events.

Speaking of the roadshow circuit, here are some pictures of the other events that took place across the country:

Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Boston, Massachusetts
Boston, MA – September 11, 2019
Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Philadelphia, PA – October 03, 2019
Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Dallas, Texas
Dallas, TX – October 08, 2019
Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Bellevue, Washington
Bellevue, WA – October 10, 2019
Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Portland, Oregon
Portland, OR – October 15, 2019
Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Anaheim, California
Anaheim, CA – October 17, 2019
Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta, GA – October 22, 2019
Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Orlando, Florida
Orlando, FL – October 24, 2019
Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Chicago, Illinois
Chicago, IL – October 29, 2019
Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – New York, New York
New York, NY – October 30, 2019
Acumatica 2019 R2 Roadshow – Columbus, Ohio
Columbus, OH – November 07, 2019

I believe that there are two reasons why Columbus continues to enjoy a roadshow event.

First, the Acumatica support office is located here in Columbus. I was happy to hear Todd Kuhns mention in the notes below that they are now up to 17 people in the Columbus office and they are already expanding the office space.

Second, Columbus is ground zero for the Acumatica Manufacturing Edition since JAAS Systems is headquartered here so you always see a good amount of Manufacturing experience in the room.

Jon Roskill made an appearance at the event in Columbus this year which was pretty cool. I think the Acumatica support office and JAAS Systems had something to do with this. Maybe we’ll see Jon here again next year as well.

Live #Acumatica R2 roadshow in Columbus with another packed house discovering how Acumatica accelerates business transformation! 2,000+ attendees across the 8 week roadshow – thanks to all who came out across the Acumatica Community and see you @Acumatica Summit 2020 in Vegas! pic.twitter.com/g8ySGKOM0W

— Jon Roskill (@Jon_Roskill) November 7, 2019

Jon Roskill wrote a nice post afterwards on the Acumatica blog about Acumatica 2019 R2, sharing his thoughts on how this release reflects Acumatica’s past, present, and future. Click here to read Jon’s blog post.

I took my notes on Twitter as usual, although I noticed that I sat in front of the blurry projector. The one on the other side of the room was much clearer, but I noticed that fact a little too late. Oh well.

I have collected all of my tweets together here:

Good reminder that it's not just about software, but even more about people and processes. Don't just implement the way you've always done it. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/2q20Sx63wA

NPS is an important metric for Acumatica. 33 is the highest in the industry. I'm not sure though exactly what 33 means 🙂 #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/r6t1Ebj9xZ

— Tim Rodman (@TimRodman) November 7, 2019

I like this Customer Bill of Rights slide. Well done. My only gripe is the 3% price increase 🙂 #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/b5Rp7p9Nby

— Tim Rodman (@TimRodman) November 7, 2019

Acumatica has won multiple awards. These are the most important ones. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/8pTOdMXVpl

List of Acumatica offices. The Portland office is new to me. I think it's because a bunch of Sage Timberline people are now with Acumatica Construction. The Columbus office started with 2 people 6 years ago, now at 17 people. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/pkjJK0oDvZ

— Tim Rodman (@TimRodman) November 7, 2019

Love the OEM strategy, taking Acumatica into other countries under different names. These companies take 2-3 years to evaluate a solution and it speaks volumes that they selected Acumatica. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/hBrNe5k875

— Tim Rodman (@TimRodman) November 7, 2019

Acumatica's marketing is cool, but what really makes the product standout are the geeky details pictured on this slide. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/4Yglp2YQRX

This always turns heads. Acumatica does not charge per user, but charges based on your transaction volume. Makes adding users that need to see information a no brainer. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/PusXcNa4F1

— Tim Rodman (@TimRodman) November 7, 2019

Acumatica SaaS runs on AWS. They found Amazon to be the most reliable. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/jpnPAyPc8b

The open Acumatica architechture is what enabled all of these integrations. Many of them are freely available on GitHub. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/QDgvZ7mMEx

Now it's time to get into 2019 R2, the good stuff. R1 tends to be more OEM and visionary features. R2 tends to be more specifically requested features from customers. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/GzWgG5Y6uv

A bunch of predefined security roles are included in 2019 R2. Personally I prefer to build them from scratch during an implementation. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/zZS9E0JXNm

Applying AR Payments is now easier. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/d1nZju3Mlg

Now creating an expense report. #Acumatica2019R2 pic.twitter.com/XrjvvZuQJ2

— Tim Rodman (@TimRodman) November 7, 2019

Now for low code / no code. My favorite! With a few clicks we added a user-defined field to the Customer screen, then got a text message when a customer with a low credit score was entered, including every at risk invoice.
