Acumatica 2017 R2 Roadshow – Columbus, Ohio

September 26, 2017 by Tim Rodman

Last week I attended the Acumatica 2017 R2 Roadshow here in Columbus, Ohio. Here are my notes along with over 120 pictures of the presentation and demos.

Since it’s only a 45 minute bike ride from my house, I decided to bike. It was a beautiful day and perfect for biking. I cut through the cornfield by my house which is part of the Agriculture department at Ohio State, then jumped onto Woody Hayes Drive, went over the Olentangy River bridge, and dropped onto the Olentangy River Trail right at the Ohio Stadium (also known as “the Shoe”) where the Buckeyes play football.

The Olentangy River Trail stays along the river all the way into downtown, then through downtown. There were a few other people out running along the trail and the sky was completely sunny. A beautiful day. I exited the trail right at the splash pad that we took the kids to the weekend before and walked the four blocks to the hotel where the event was being held. The hotel didn’t have a bike rack, but they put my bike in their secure luggage closet and gave me a ticket. It worked out perfectly.

There were more people at the event than I expected would be there and a much nicer setup than I expected. Lunch was awesome too. I was expecting box lunches, but it was a fully catered meal. Thank you sponsors!

These events are always a lot of fun because there are so many new things that they show. It’s all cool stuff too and it’s very difficult to pick a top 5 or top 10 list. There is just too much. That’s why I like to take a lot of pictures and document my notes on Twitter. It’s the best way for me to organize the massive amount of content.

But my 4G internet wasn’t working very well on my phone and I wasn’t paying attention when they announced the Wi-Fi password, so I ended up taking notes and pictures offline, then posting to Twitter later in the evening, kind of a non-live live-tweeting thing.

And here I have collected all of my tweets together so we have them in one place. Enjoy!

#Acumatica2017R2 Connectivity issues, so I'm settling for "non-live live-tweeting" based on my offline pictures and notes from this morning.

#Acumatica2017R2 I like this new UI. The top took up way too much space in old UI. Also, having Search so prominently displayed is awesome. pic.twitter.com/X2BBIf0KgK

#Acumatica2017R2 I also like the tiles on the top. Allows you to add whatever screens you want to make stand out. pic.twitter.com/5sgbDwkVTE

#Acumatica2017R2 The Quick Menu area is customizable per user. You just check off the stuff that you want to see in your Quick Menu. pic.twitter.com/OpRHCsynPj

#Acumatica2017R2 Collapse the Workspaces on the left-hand side to get more real estate but keep the icons. Sooooo much better than old UI. pic.twitter.com/7GubNipxTt

— Tim Rodman (@TimRodman) September 21, 2017

#Acumatica2017R2 You can also doc Workspaces to the corner (Menu icon) to free up left-hand side completely. Nice to have options. pic.twitter.com/MloL490q6n

#Acumatica2017R2 One more click to narrow search to documents. Seems though like just file names, not document contents which would be cool. pic.twitter.com/qID8Szp4Tc

— Tim Rodman (@TimRodman) September 21, 2017

#Acumatica2017R2 Sounds like you can now build pre-configured dashboards and deploy them to customers. I'd love to learn how to do this. pic.twitter.com/FFlHb4LHeD
