Introducing Query Quarry

July 18, 2017 by Tim Rodman

Query Quarry has the ambitious goal of giving you access to all of your Acumatica data by means of a massive library of pre-built Acumatica Generic Inquiries.

Update (January 23rd, 2019): I’m keeping the post on this page in place for now, but click here for the latest on Query Quarry.

This has been a dream of mine for a long time.

What is the dream?

The dream is to provide a foundational set of inquiries that companies can use to build analysis using Excel and Power BI.

Think of it as a Data Warehouse. I learned the importance of this when I worked at a manufacturing company in Cleveland, Ohio. If you are going to build meaningful analysis, then you need a Data Warehouse so that all of your analysis is built on top of one core set of data, one version of the truth.

Acumatica Generic Inquiries give you the ability to query anything that you want in the database. The problem is that everyone is out there re-inventing the wheel  every time by creating their own sets of Generic Inquiries.

Wouldn’t it make more sense for there to be one central set of Generic Inquiries that everyone utilizes?

Then you get to focus on adding value and building meaningful analysis, not the boring technical side of getting the generic inquiries built.

And this core foundational set of Generic Inquiries essentially becomes the Data Warehouse that you can build on using Excel and Power BI.

I’m building this and calling it Query Quarry.
