Back From Vacation and 1.5 Year Blog Anniversary

October 30, 2014 by Tim Rodman

I had a great time on vacation in Southern California the past two weeks.

We visited my side of the family in San Diego, then we stayed in San Diego for a few more days for my brother-in-law’s wedding. The wedding was in Mission Beach so we rented a beach house right on the boardwalk and stayed with my wife’s siblings and their kids. We had 8 adults and 8 kids in the house and it was a blast. Here we are eating dinner in the living room with the extended family:

Vacation

While I was in San Diego, I met up with Jim Carroll, owner of Advanced Solutions & Consulting Co. (otherwise known as ARCVAR). Jim is doing a lot to get the word out and bring in new Acumatica customers. We had a good conversation and discussed some interesting Acumatica ideas. The more people I talk to about Acumatica, the more I realize what a bright future lies ahead.

After our first week in San Diego, we went up to Long Beach for a week to visit my wife’s parents and see friends in Los Angeles.

Two weeks goes by fast, but I enjoyed it while it lasted. Now we’re back in Columbus and back in our normal routine.

Blog Reflections While On Vacation

It has been exactly one-and-a-half years since I made my first post on April 30th, 2013. When I started this blog journey, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to keep it up. I have a full-time job, a wife, and two kids that all require time and attention. My Acumatica learning takes place at night, after the kids are in bed, and many times continues to one or two in the morning. It can be very tiring at times, but I’m motivated to build a base of knowledge that will benefit me in the future.

During our vacation, I had a lot of time to consider where I’m headed with Acumatica and I decided that it’s time for me to turn this Acumatica hobby into a real business. I still plan to keep my full-time job and continue to focus on Acumatica in the evenings when I have free time, but I’m changing the way I think about Acumatica. I used to think of it as a hobby. Now I am beginning to think of it as a business opportunity.

However, I have limited time and I need  to narrow my focus to a specific area of Acumatica. With that in mind, I have decided to focus on an area in Acumatica that I am passionate about.

More on that next week…
