My notes on the Work Centers (AM207000) screen in the Acumatica Manufacturing Edition.

This screen is where you define the Work Centers to be used by Bills of Material and Production Orders.

You need at least one Work Center defined. That's because a Bill of Material (BOM) needs at least one Operation and an Operation requires a Work Center.

Typically a Work Center is a physical area that is doing some kind of process. But could it could also be used for a digital process or Outside Processing.

Warehouse: This field is informational only, not functional. You can use a Work Center in another Warehouse.

Outside Processing: This field is informational only, not functional.

Standard Cost: This cost will be used if you set Use Labor Rate to Standard on the Production Preferences (AM102000) screen.

Backflush Materials: The default value used by the Backflush checkbox on the MATERIALS tab of the Bill of Material (AM208000) screen.

Backflush Labor: The default values used by the Backflush Labor checkbox on the Bill of Material (AM208000) screen.

MACHINES tab: Note that the Machines listed here apply to the Work Center and cannot be overridden on the Bill of Material or Production Order. So, if you have multiple Machines in a physical area, but you would only use one per Production Order, you might want the ID of your Work Center to reference both the physical area and the machine. Or you might consider using Tools to designate the machine because Tools can be overridden on a Bill of Material / Production Order.
