Is it possible to restrict Business Accounts that are 'Vendor' type?
I would like to restrict Vendor details from some users. To do this, I created a specific User Role, and removed access to the Purchase Orders section and the entire Finance section.
However, all Vendors have a Business Account. I can't figure out how to restrict access to the 'Vendor' type within Business Accounts. I also tried to do this using Row-level Security, but with no luck.
Are you trying to restrict access on the Business Accounts (CR303000) screen? If so, just curious, what are you trying to do on that screen that you can't do on the Vendors (AP303000) screen?
Hello Tim,
I'm trying to restrict access to any Business Account that is a Vendor, rather than restrict access to fields within the Business Accounts screen.
We use the Vendors (AP303000) screen to maintain vendor records, but as each vendor has a business account, any update of the vendor flows straight to the Business Account.
Sorry, I had it backwards. So it sounds like you want to prevent someone from going to the Business Accounts screen and pulling up a Vendor. You want them to be able to go to the Business Accounts screen and pull up anything except for a vendor. Is that correct?
Yep that's correct!
Ok, now that I finally got that straight, I think you might want to look at Row Level Security, specifically, the Vendor Access (AP102000) screen and this help article about Types of Restriction Groups:
https://help.acumatica.com/Main?ScreenId=ShowWiki&pageid=a72c11e3-e181-4412-a462-ce333721a1e9
The A Inverse group type seems like it might work for you.
The annoying thing though about row-level security is that you have to keep adding new vendors to the group manually, unless you use the Default Restriction Group field on the Vendor Classes (AP201000) screen, but then you lose the ability to use Vendor Class for a more "normal" grouping of vendors.
I've been testing the Vendor Access Row-level Security suggestion. I created an A Inverse group, and restricted a user and some vendors. The user was unable to see these vendors at all in the Suppliers screen (AP303000), let alone open them!
However, there is an issue. This same user was able to see the restricted vendors in the Business Accounts screen, and also open and edit them...
Bummer, it looks like the row-level security only works on the "Vendor" and not the "Business Account". Looks like you'll need to customize the Business Accounts screen to achieve what you're looking for unfortunately.
Ok... I've created an Idea post as to this at https://feedback.acumatica.com/ideas/ACU-I-1606
If this is something people need, please vote for it!
