Is There "Unit Accounts" or "Non-Financial Accounts" possible in Chart of Accounts?
To track Headcount, Square Footage, Building Count, and other denominators for Metrics and KPIs?
I do not see anything.
you have 2 options that I can immediately think of.
1) Create new range of accounts, and enable UNITS for the accounts. UNITS are + to increase or - to decrease and if anyone every uses the account with DR / CR, it will throw the entry out of balance and user would be forced to change.
2) Create a STATISTICAL LEDGER. The issue with this is, ANY journal entry can only be created for ACTUAL or STATISTICAL. Not both. But from control standpoint, all accounts are immediately available in the statistical ledger. Not a great idea.
Also, depending on where you want to use the Statistics, reporting would need to include BOTH ledgers.
or 3) use both - create a range of accounts, enable UNITS, and use them in only STATISTICAL LEDGER.
