We would like to create a daily email to the staff, that has some overarching figures in the email body, including details like today's sales figures, today's quotes figures, the number of phone calls entered, etc.
However, I'm not sure where to start here.
We currently have automated the Sales Order Summary to send automatically using a scheduled template. This is good, but it doesn't solve everything though. Issues with it are that it's only restricted to sales figures and that it is sent as a PDF report attached to an email, making it a bit harder to view.
What would be great is to be able to email a copy of our main dashboard to the staff at the end of every day - not sure how to go about this though.
Would anyone have some pointers as to this?
I have not seen a scheduled dashboard email feature, but I would definitely be in favor of it!
An idea I had while reading this that would also allow you to trend all your dashboard data over time from a single screen.
Low tech setup: Use custom attributes on items to store dashboard data. You would create a new item every night using an import scenario and put it into a specific category.
More tech setup: Custom object created with fields for the data you want.
Nightly updates: Every night you run import scenarios to update the fields with the data from your dashboard. You will need to make sure the first import creates the daily record.
You can then setup a filter to the previous days data (use createddate) and have an email send it out every morning.
If you want you could setup another filter by week or month and have that sent to show your trends. You would just have to loop through that data in your email template.
I just happened to get an email about DataSelf today. From their feature list, it looks like you could be able to schedule their dashboards to be sent out.
