Is anyone aware of support for the Maxi / Aztec code barcode standard within Acumatica Report Designer? [ reference : https://www.barcodefaq.com/2d/maxicode/ ]
We’re currently working through a phase of our implementation that dives deep into the Shipment Label needs of our larger customers. Some needs seem straight forward but end up at a dead end while others have slightly convoluted solutions. Oh, please note that we’re integrating with Easypost which will likely render the majority of our more typical Shipment Labels but these are not the labels I'm concerned about at this moment.
Imho these larger customers' needs could be accommodated easily if we were to take ownership of the design of the Shipment label. I know there’s some decent work involved, which I've done before, but it would be a clean repeatable process.
The main road block I now see is that Acumatica Report Designer doesn’t seem to support the Maxi / Aztec code barcode standard.
Has anyone had the need to print this barcode?
Have you been successful?

I don't have Maxi / Aztec experience, but I would think it would be the same as MICR in that it's just a font that needs to be installed on the web server. If you are on Acumatica SaaS like most Acumatica customers are, I'm pretty sure that the Acumatica SaaS team will do this for you as part of your subscription. This is my experience with MICR:

@timrodman Oh how I wish it were that simple lol Maxi or Aztec Codes are more like a QR Code, not just an alternative font. I know there's online rendering solutions so now I'm trying to figure out if I can have Acumatica Report Designer point to a URL, being an api which returns a jpg of the code, when inserting an image.
There's so much to learn with this amazing system. 😉
Interesting. I wonder if you might need a separate report writer that points back to Acumatica and grabs the data using OData.
@jmck well, I mean if you have a report writer that can run reports in your browser, like SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, etc. You point to an Acumatica Generic Inquiry as the data source over OData. The report writer would have its own login which isn't ideal, but since it runs in the browser, you should be able to embed the page in Acumatica so it looks like it's running in Acumatica. I know browsers are cracking down on iframes, but it worked the last time I tried it:

@timrodman Right, that I understand BUT can it drive the rendering of a Shipping Label like you'd see with a carrier, say UPS or FedEx, and the likes? having said that, it might be about a slight shift in perspective / context that I'm looking to obtain... thinking...

@jmck Agreed, you'd have to find a report writer that can handle Maxi / Aztec. I'm not sure of one myself.
