Is it possible to format a date field in Report Designer to display a leading zero in front of the month (except for October, November, and December of course since they are already two digits)?
My dates don't show the leading zero.

Try going to the properties on the field and in the Appearance section put the following code in the Format field:
MM/dd/yyyy
Note that this code will also put leading zeros in front of the day as well. If you want only the single digit days, then you can use this code:
MM/d/yyyy
I didn't think to mention that I also want two digits for the days so that first code is exactly what I was looking for.
Now my dates look much better:
