When we customize generic inquiries and pivot tables and the client upgrades/moves from 2021R1 to 2022R1 what happens?
Do we have to ‘protect’ the work we do or does the system just auto-update the GI’s?
Do we need to keep a record of all customizations we’ve done for clients so we might have to re-do them after an upgrade?

In general, my experience has been that Generic Inquiries & Pivot Tables "auto-update". It's when the underlying Data Access Classes change that things break. One example of this is when they changed how the OwnerId field is stored in the database:

One thing I'd like to try, but haven't had a chance to yet, is exporting the same Generic Inquiry from multiple Acumatica Versions to XML and compare the XML file to get an idea of how much the export format changes from version to version.
