I heard that you can now see Acumatica Dashboards in the Acumatica Mobile App.

But when I login to the Acumatica Mobile App, I don't see any Dashboards. Does anyone know what I'm missing?

Hi Rowlf,

You are missing something that is totally not intuitive so don't feel bad. It took me a few months to figure out how to do it. But, once you figure it out, it's not too bad.

The Acumatica Mobile App has its own menu. You don't get access to everything in Acumatica by default. You have to decide what screens and what fields on those screens should be displayed in the Acumatica mobile app.

Now, currently it's not very user friendly to make changes to the menu for the mobile app, but I've heard that some kind of menu editor is coming in the future.

For now though, you just have to jump through a few hoops.

1. First, you have to find the mobilesitemap.xml file on your Acumatica Web Server. For me, it's in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Acumatica ERP\Acumatica7\App_Data\Mobile folder.

2. Second, open that mobilesitemap.xml file in Notepad. I'm actually using Notepad++, but Notepad will do just fine.

3. Third, scroll to the very bottom and add some code. Now, for this example, let's assume that I want to add two of my Dashboards to the mobile menu. If that's the case, then I use the following code:

<sm:Folder DisplayName="Dashboards" Icon="system://Folder" Type="ListFolder">
<sm:Screen DisplayName="Sales Manager" Icon="system://Graph1" Id="DB000011" Type="Dashboard" />
<sm:Screen DisplayName="Support Manager" Icon="system://Graph1" Id="DB000009" Type="Dashboard" />
</sm:Folder>

When I'm finished, the bottom of my mobilesitemap.xml file looks like this, with the stuff that I added highlighted in red.

Let's break down that code a little bit.

The first line is just going to give me a folder for all of my Dashboards. You can choose what name you want the folder to be called. In this case, I called it "Dashboards" by setting DisplayName to "Dashboards". You can set an icon for the folder. In this case we set the Icon value to system://Folder (I'm not sure where to get a full list of the icons available, but maybe someone else can help with that). The Type is set to "ListFolder" since this is a menu folder.

The second line and third line are actual Dashboards. So our Dashboards folder should have two Dashboards added to it on the mobile menu. The DisplayName is the name that the Dashboard will appear as on mobile, the Icon is the icon (just like the folder icon), the Id is the Screen ID of the dashboard (more on that below), and the Type is just "Dashboard" for any dashboard.

How do you get the Id value for the Dashboard? You can get it from the URL when you browse to the dashboard in Acumatica.

Here is where I got the DB000011 value for my Sales Manager dashboard:

And here is where I got the DB000009 value for my Support Manager dashboard:

So it's a little weird that you have to edit the file in Notepad, but it's not too bad. You just add a couple of sm:Folder lines (one at the beginning, one at the end) for the Dashboards folder, then sm:Screen lines, one for each Dashboard that you want to add.

Once you save that file, you need to logout of the Acumatica Mobile App and lot back in.

Once you log back in, you should see the Dashboards menu icon like this in the lower right (note, we added it to the bottom, but just move it up in the mobilesitemap.xml file if you want it higher):

Clicking on that Dashboards option in the screenshot above will take you into the Dashboards folder that we created. Now we see the Sales Manager and Support Manager dashboards that we added to the mobile menu.

Let's go into that Sales Manager dashboard. Looks like everything is formatted nicely for mobile:

And you can scroll down the Dashboard to see the rest of it, including the charts which actually look pretty nice on mobile:

Lastly, we can click the left arrow on the top to go back, then go into the Support Manager dashboard and drill down to see that the bar charts also look pretty nice on mobile:

One last note, the drilldown also works. You can click on one of those bars in the screenshot above, for example, and drill down to the Generic Inquiry behind it. But you do have to make sure to add that specific Generic Inquiry to the mobile menu for it to work.

They just made this A LOT easier in Acumatica 2018 R1. You don't have to open the mobilesitemap.xml file anymore.

All you need to do is go into the Dashboards (SM208600) screen and check the Display in the Mobile Application box.

Wow, so much easier!

Tim,  Did you ever come across a reference for the different icons?  I want to change some icons on some of my custom additions.
