Hi Everyone,

I'm looking in the Data Source column on the Row Sets screen and I see that you can choose a Start Account and an End Account which effectively gives you the ability to choose a range of accounts.

But what if I want to do one of the following?

  1. Multiple account ranges, like 6500 to 6599, then also include 6700 to 6799
  2. A collection of accounts that aren't next to each other, like 6500, 6700, and 7000
  3. Use wildcards to match on certain numbers in the account, like "grab all accounts ending in 99" regardless of what the first to numbers are

Does any one know if any of these three things are possible?

Hi Beaker,

First, let me say that I think it's rare to have a multi-part question where the answer is "yes" to every part.

But I think we have that here.

Here is the format for each of your three scenarios. You would put these in the Start Account and leave the End Account field empty.

  1. 6500:6599, 6700:6799
  2. 6500, 6700, 7000
  3. ??99

Or, you could combine all three together (even though it wouldn't make much sense in this case) and do something like this:

6500:6599, 6700:6799, 7000, ??99

This would also just go in the Start Account field. There isn't enough room for all of this to display in the field, but if you hover over the field you will see that it's all there and getting stored properly.

Note: The spaces after the commas are optional. They might even be optional after the colons as well, but I'm not positive on that.

Also, note that with great power comes great responsibility. You can give yourself a real headache here. Personally, I think it's best to just use the Account Class filter and only use these advanced account filters if absolutely necessary. But that's just my opinion.

Wow, this is great!

You're right, I wasn't even sure if any of them would be possible. But for all three of them to be possible makes me really happy.

I'll definitely be careful because I can see how things could get out of hand really quickly.
