Are you interested in meeting other Acumatica users in your area, maybe even forming a local Acumatica User Group?
If so, then you’ve come to the right place.
I recently attended a local Acumatica User Group in Denver, Colorado and experienced first-hand the power of a local gathering.
Even with a Cloud ERP product like Acumatica, available from anywhere, we humans still have a need to connect with other people in person locally.
In order to facilitate local Acumatica User Group gatherings, AUG Forums now has an AUG Local field that members can self populate.
This is all you need to do:
1. Login to AUG Forums (click here) using your Facebook, Google, or LinkedIn account. If you don’t already have an account, one will be created for you automatically.
2. Go to My Info > My Account (click here) and populate the AUG Local field.
Note: If your city isn’t listed, contact me (click here) and I’ll get it added to the list.
3. Don’t forget to press the SAVE CHANGES button on the bottom of the My Account page.
That’s it, you’re done!
Keep in mind that the AUG Local field is public so anyone on the internet can see it. They can also see the other fields marked (Public) on your My Account page. Click here for an overview video of the My Account page.
If you want to search for other AUG Members in your area you can do that on the Member List page:
I also thought it would be cool to show the AUG Local and Display Name data fields on a map so I’m including that here. You can zoom in using your mouse scroll or by double-clicking. Hover over a bubble to see the people in that city. I have to refresh the map manually unfortunately so you won’t see yourself until next time I do the refresh.
For some reason, this Power BI map isn’t working in all web browsers. If you don’t see anything in the space below, then click here to see the map.
One final thing about local Acumatica User Groups. When local Acumatica User Groups form officially, they are typically formed as a Nonprofit organization with a Board of Directors, Bylaws, and other official legal stuff. They have their own rules about membership.
The AUG Local field is merely a way for AUG Members to self-identity themselves in a certain geographical area showing that they are interested in joining a local Acumatica User Group. Populating the AUG Local field does not automatically make you a member of a local Acumatica User Group. There is no official relationship between augforums.com and local Acumatica User Group organizations.
However, I’m happy to help local Acumatica User Groups in any way I can. This includes creating a separate forum on AUG Forums (click here) for your local user group. This would allow your members to communicate with other Acumatica users globally as every AUG Member can do now, but also give you a place to communicate locally.
Your dedicated forum could be used by your local Acumatica User Group members to communicate with each other, announce when the next meeting will be, create polls for voting on things, etc. And your forum can be private so only your members can see it. Actually, I’ve already created a private forum for the Rocky Mountain Acumatica User Group in Denver, Colorado and I’m happy to do the same thing for others:
