Add a new optional parameter to the File Maintenance Screen, that allows business users to determine the number of revisions of a file to maintain.
This would allow the ERP to manage attachments with the same name. Less is more.
The initial change would be to add the parameter. If it is not specified the system works as it does today. Unlimited Versions of the File will be maintained.
Optional if a number is entered. That is how many versions will be maintained and cycled.
Once that limit is hit, the oldest file will be dropped and the new one will be stored.
This would be beneficial with Automated Import and/or Exports.
It would allow the business to manage how many versions based on the cycle of uploads or downloads, based on business intelligence.
If this were implemented, it would reduce cases created to Acumatica Support and would be a tool to managed this space usage.
Some systems there is a need to keep infinitesimal copies of revisions. Like Construction/Contracts/Projects.
This might not be the case for payables, receivables, or Financials.
Here we are speaking to identically names files.
This would add additional flexibility.
