I am trying to configure the warehouse locations so that only the floor level locations will show up on shipments.

I have set the Pick Priority of my floor locations to "1" and all overstock locations to Pick Priority "0".  All locations still show up on my pick slip when I create a shipment.

The only other way I see to do this is to set the overstock locations to "Sales Not Allowed" and then uncheck the "Include in Item Available".

Has anyone else tried this?

Thanks

Are you trying to get the location not showing up on the shipment itself or on the pick list report?

Both actually.  Since the picklist is a report that can be modified fairly easily to display a different field based on the item.  However, the shipment will allocate inventory from all over the warehouse and then issue from those locations as confirm shipment.  After more testing it looks like I need to set the locations as Sales Not Allowed and Do Not Include in Qty Available.  This doesn't seem to affect MRP, is somewhat confusing on the Inventory Summary inquiries, but it does show as On Hand still.  So the only issue now is when the shipment creates it shows locations as <SPLIT> for all items that do not have enough inventory in the bin I have designated as the allowable pick bin.  This creates a lot of manual work on a 300-400 line shipment where 1/3 of the items are displaying <SPLIT> and we have to manually update a location/bin.

Can you calrify the scenario a bit more?

The items are in 2 locations, call them REGULAR and OVERSTOCK.

Do you want the items to be available for Sales orders?

If so, do you want the items to default to  REGULAR and only if no REGULAR are left, go to OVERSTOCK? or do you want OVERSTOCK to never be an option?

Thanks Ellie,

I really do not want overstock to be an option on the picklist/shipment at all.  However I also don't want to create a back order unless there really is not enough inventory "On Hand".

I think I have decided to just mark the Overstock locations as "Not Available" and then when you create shipment back orders are generated.  Then I can just sort by back order > 0 and manually change the quantities.  Then once the orders are actually picked if I really have back orders I can update the shipment again before confirmation.
