There are 2 options for downloading and installing Power BI Desktop

Please note that a Windows computer is required since Power BI Desktop does not work on a Mac 🙁

Option #1: Ideally, you’ll want to install Power BI Desktop from the Windows Store because it will auto-update whenever there’s a new version (typically about once a month) in the same way that an app on your phone auto updates.

Option #2: But some organizations lock you out of the Windows Store so you’ll have to use this option which isn’t the end of the world, it just means that you’ll get an annoying “there’s a new update, would you like to download it” pop-up whenever there’s a new version for you to download and install.
