I would like to "bulk import" user accounts from Excel or CSV.  Can this be done via import scenario, or other method?  If yes, I'd appreciate more details as to the  import "template" requirements.

Thanks.

While I've never done it, in theory it might be possible but you might have trouble assigning things like Roles and Licenses Types via Import Scenario.

The template is up to you - it depends on which fields you want to assign via the import.

If you've no experience with Import Scenarios you should do the Open Uni training.

Steve,

I agree with Royce that the tricky part is assigning User Roles.

But here's something to get you started importing Users/Passwords:

Here's the definition on the Import Scenarios (SM206025) screen:

The Excel Data Provider that I used looks like this:

I found this article to be very helpful setting up an import scenario for users. I also found a way to set Roles based on an already created role name (please see the screenshot below). The challenge I had was setting multiple permissions at the same time and found that if I put them on different rows the import will assign both roles, but can't necessarily do this is one import row.

Login E-mail First Name Last Name Password Role
LoginName Email@address.com Login Name Test1234 Guest
LoginName Email@address.com Login Name Test1234 Administrator

On a related note, we've set up all our users in production and will force the user to change when they first log in.  But, we've copied the production environment over to a test environment and as the admin I want to do a mass password change so that everyone has a nice, easy to remember training password for the test environment and to keep the production environment clean.  I am having issues with the fact that "reset password" brings up a pop-up screen with two fields (New Password and Confirm Password) and these don't seem to be options in the import scenario. The field User Information > Password refers to the original password field.  Any tips or advice?

@megan-friesen

if you dont have SQL access because its hosted by Acumatica or other, it is not possible to automate when I last attempted in 2019R1.

Processing manually isn't horrible. the Password reset automatically saves immediately, so you can just page thru the users.

good luck.

@paulfoster Thanks.  We were able to do it via a SQL script to force in the new passwords.  It would be nice if you could do it using the built in import scenarios, but the back door works too 🙂
